All our chairs are designed to be stacked up to 10 high. Of
course, any chair that can stack, you will be able to stack up to about this
level. But here are the real factors that determine whether it
is wise to do so: Will the legs splay? If the frames
are not fully welded there will be a tendency for the legs on the lower
chairs to splay out and overlap the next chair. You will find
these frames are much more resistant to this.
Will the legs crack? Once the stack is made, the
second chair up has all the weight of the top 8 chairs pressing down and
trying to open up its legs (effectively unbending the U). This
places a lot of stress on the inside of the bends on each leg.
If the bends have any wrinkles in them it is far more likely that a stress
crack will begin to form and eventually the back legs will drop off.
Often this will happen when a guest is sat on the chair.
