Lightness: A 6ft table
weights just 18Kg.
That is easy to handle for most men, but might be slightly too heavy for
most women.
Strength: The
Mity-Lite table can take 600+Kg without a problem. That is the
equivalent of 8 eleven stone adults. That will allow you
to use if for anything without a worry.
The strength comes from an internal wood frame with two "unidirectional
plywood" runners. These are a special plywood made with all the
fibres running longitudinally along the length of the beam. This
gives an unmatched strength for weight ratio of any folding table.
Durability:
The Mity-Lite top is built in High Impact ABS plastic. This can
absorb the energy of the normal daily impacts that a folding table gets.
You can drop the table straight onto its corner from knee height, without
causing significant damage.
The legs are riveted together (rather than welded) and are then bolted into
the interior wood frame of the top. This makes it impossible to
rip them away from the top.
Folding Leg Mechanism:
To set the legs you just snap them out from under the table in a single
action. The safety lock then drops into place under gravity when
you put the table on its feet. (NB. I
strongly recommend you not to buy a table without a safety lock or one that
has to be applied manually).
To fold the table, you lay it on its side, move the safety locking ring up
the arm of the mechanism, push the frame of the mechanism anywhere on either
arm to slightly "break" the straighten position, and then swing the leg into
the table.
I do not know of a simpler, quicker or more reliable system than this on the
market.
Lips, Cracks and
seams: The top surface of the Mity-Lite table is made from a
sheet of ABS plastic, vacuum formed so that the edges roll over without any
seam at all. This makes them far easier to clean and more
comfortable to use.

Finishes:
The basic colours are beige, brown and grey. These finishes have
a dimpled texture to the surface to reduce the visual effect of scratches.
We can offer some smooth surfaced speckled finishes.
These give you maximum durability and appearance for a small premium.
Finally, you can choose one of our two woodgrain finishes. These
are achieved using a smooth veneer of patterned plastic, co-extruded with
the base ABS plastic. It should be noted that while with
the other finishes a deep scratch will only dig through to the same plastic,
with one of these wood effect tables, the scratch will go through the veneer
to a different substrate. For that reason we do not recommend
them for very high wear environments. |
